The industry’s first true All Purpose Body, the APB 2
utilizes a unique removable conveyor system which
minimizes switch over time from dump body to spreader body. The APB 2
also features a simple to operate coal chute style metering gate to regulate the
material flow to a quick detachable spinner mounted to the conveyor rather
than the truck frame.

The APB 2 is a cross memberless body with 13” stainless steel rear corner posts. The floor in
the APB 2 is made of 3/16” High Strength Low Alloy steel and the body longitudinals are
manufactured of 3/16” Corten steel. The APB 2 is a rear spread only unit with a single acting
tailgate, but with the optional “barn door” style hinge the tailgate can be moved off to the side
to enable the hauling of brush or other large objects. The APB 2 also features a 3/16” High
Strength Low Alloy removable conveyor cover that quickly converts your spreader body to a
conventional dump body in minutes. The conveyor system uses a 6:1 spur gearbox on a
2” drive shaft with 8 tooth sprockets to move the 22” wide conveyor chain. A 21,000 pound
tensile strength pintle type conveyor chain and 3/8” x 1-1/2” x 18-3/4” crossbars on 4-1/2”
centers is standard equipment on all APB 2s.

The APB 2 features a hoist system that includes a cylinder with a 2-year warranty,
and the cylinder tubes are manufactured of steel incorporating a nitriding metallurgical
process that increases wear resistance, is corrosion resistant, and is harder
than chrome plating. A simple U-Cup seal design does not require packing in the
event of seal replacement. The trunion mount of the cylinder eliminates the
necessity for a doghouse, and a unique oscillating collar feature prevents side
loading of the cylinder in case of body sway, while extending the cylinder on an
uneven surface. The APB 2 spinner assembly consists of an 18” polyurethane
disc with 6 vanes formed into a single unit. The spinner frame is adjustable
from side to side to allow for variable spread patterns.

Although APB 2 is considered a multi-purpose dump body it is not recommended to
convey hot or cold asphalt mix. The APB 2 can however haul hot or cold asphalt
mix with either the butterfly floor in the flat position or the standard conveyor cover.
